Papa, Papa! The Sky is Falling...
The pope is dead, in accordance with prophecy. St. Malachy, the 12th century Irish Bishop and prophet, predicted that the pope would die in March of 2005. His prediction was extremely close, and if doctors hadn’t intervened to insert a feeding tube, or a breathing tube, then the death would have most definitely been 100% accurate. St. Malachy predicted that there would only be two more popes. The next he describes as “The Glory of the Olive”, most likely a pope of Spanish or Italian decent. Following that pope is “Peter the Roman”. St. Malachy went into detail stating…
"In extreme persecution, the seat of the Holy Roman Church will be occupied by Peter the Roman, who will feed the sheep through many tribulations, at the term of which the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the formidable Judge will judge the people. The End."
Quite an image... The bible calls that time the apocalypse. If all follows the plan, then we may be the lucky few to observe such a remarkable event (hopefully I'll be ready for the Rapture). Many people don’t believe in these “fire and brimstone” predictions. Such doom and gloom would depress the individual and ensure that if these are their last days, then they certainly won’t enjoy them.
Nostradamus also made predictions about the end of time. He described a war that would start at the end of the 20th century that would last 27 years. The antagonist of this war was described as…
"Out of the country of Greater Arabia Shall be born a strong master of Mohammed,
He will enter Europe wearing a blue turban.
He will be the terror of mankind.
Never more horror."
One could argue that “Shall” could actually mean “Shah” which would implicate that the next anti-Christ is an Iranian. The blue turban could represent the new colors of Iraq’s flag; a blue, crescent moon above two stripes of blue separated by a yellow stripe.
Of course, you can't take all this prediction and prophecy crap as truth. Pope John XXIII kept a detailed journal where he wrote many entries during his rein as pope. He wrote about an encounter with Jesus Christ on February 12th, 1959…
"The Savior has granted me special audience here in my chambers. He tells me that I have been chosen to hear the truth no matter how awful it may be. It scares me a bit to be so entrusted, but I am honored all the same"
He then catalogued those “truths” in his journal. He wrote about a prophecy shared with him by the Virgin Mary…
"As the year 1998 arrives, our heavenly friends will have shared much of their advanced knowledge. Mankind will at last wipe out most of its diseases and our life spans will increase to the length of those listed in the Bible. The visitors will also share the remarkable power of resurrection, and throngs of the wrongly-dead will rise again. Finally, a wondrous miracle will take place in the sky above New York City on December 25, 2000, when millions will witness the sensational appearance of a messiah who's going to announce the new beginning of a second paradise here on earth."
Now unless I’m crazy, I don’t think I saw Jesus during the Christmas Day Parade, nor during New Years Rocking Eve. Dick Clark would have surely informed us of such a miracle. But it didn’t happen. Pope John XXIII, also wrote about visitors from the heavens arriving in 1995, a deadly disease stricking humanity in 1984, and that between 1959 and 1963 the world would lose a great leader and that a powerful nation would find itself in a war that cannot be won… Wait… Vietnam, Kennedy, AIDS… This guy was much better with the shorter-range prophecy. But unless Will Smith thwarted the visitors from heaven and the Miracle was that George Bush won the election, then I don’t believe Pope John XXIII’s prophecies, let alone those made by any other raving nut bag.
Nonetheless, it's still entertaining how much certain people are willing to believe…
