The Idiot Factor...
The market lost today during trading. The DOW fell over 115 points, the Nasdaq almost 30, and the S&P 500 14. The question always occurs to me: what causes the market trends? It can't be the profitability of the company whose stock is traded, because most every company in the DOW, Nasdaq and S&P have been showing increased profits and in turn dividends. Although, that is the main reason to purchase stock in a company people decide to react to a superstitions of signs, a sort of divination of dividends. They think that the tone of the world will dictate how they perform in the market in the long run.
In a way they're not wrong, however, these people are impulsive and that plan would only be effective in a long run. Instead if there is good news they buy, bad news they sell. But certain news causes a stronger reaction than others. For instance, the news of Iran and their nuclear ambitions have caused the price of crude to rise to $67 early this week and dropped a dollar today. But despite the price decrease and the surplus in reserves, the price at the pump continues to rise. Why? Because we are caught by the balls with these oil companies.
People are still buying SUV's despite their inherent inefficiency. When I'm driving to work, I only see one person per car. One person riding in a 2 ton SUV that gets 11 miles to the gallon of gas. And they keep on paying, and they do so for the same reason why they buy those gigantic and wasteful machines... Because they can.
A couple weeks back I was at a county fair in DuPage county. I was walking by all the vendors and tents, and passed a booth offering a competition to win a Toyota Prius (a new hybrid car). A bunch of people were standing around criticizing the car. These weren't country folk who idolize NASCAR and pray to gasoline. Rather these were the fraternity type; polo shirts, khaki shorts, hemp necklaces and sandals. They were making fun of the car, saying that it's a "fag fastback" and a "queer-mobile". A redneck was walking by and snorted that he passes shit bigger than the car. The frat-boys and the rednecks both laughed, and even harder when one of the boys spit on the hood. They all got chased off by the person watching over the car. While the attendant was wiping off the spit he was grumbling to himself that "they" should've gotten the Hummer.
The little rich boys were on the same wavelength as the trash. There is no more honor in high society. We have reached such a deplorable state whereas the trash and the money are on the same side. So who is left to fight for reason and virtue? The middle class? Ha! Those people are busy trying to emulate the group they have a higher affinity for, so they behave like either the trash or the affluent anyway. There is now nothing to save us from our own self destruction.
These idiots enjoy have their balls in a vice by oil companies. They are the social masochists that long to be abused and even ridicule those that try to avoid it. And they can spot those types immediately by the car they drive, the meals they order at restaurants, the partners they choose in life, and the very speech they use. These people are like animals. And like animals they can't foresee the consequences of their actions.
There are a rare few that silently try to honor reason and virtue, and behave appropriately in this freakish society. They skulk around in their fuel efficient automobiles. They don't tend to enjoy auto racing "sports" nor wear cowboy hats. They read books and shy away from reality television. They turn off lights when leaving a room. They find pleasure in being efficient and shame in being wasteful. They are embarrassed by the average image of America. They criticize capitalism and applaud ecological movements. They enjoy riding their bikes and taking walks. They have vegetable gardens in their back yards or herb gardens on their window sills. These are they peaceful progressives, leading by example, humble and kind. Not full of boasting ill conceived pride for dominance and ignorance.
Unfortunately for every peaceful progressive, there are a dozen idiots. They enjoy loosing consciousness, either by drugs and alcohol, or through vegetation. They find anything foreign to them or their way of thinking, offensive and deserving of attack. They are the one's that think that all those Arabs had it coming. They think they are the only one of importance. They say, "fuck the future because the past fucked us." They don't feel responsible for their actions nor the actions of anyone else that they encourage. They waste. They abuse. They exploit. A poison to the planet...
But what is the use in pointing this out. The peaceful progressives don't have the numbers, the influence nor the gaul to force change. The poison will continue to permeate this country, sickening more and more until the very heart stops. Then the long road to dissolution.
People in the future will think when did it all go wrong. Where was the tipping point and how could it have been corrected. The tipping point is pride, greed and sloth. They feel pride and think that they deserve. They are greedy and therefore want. They are lazy and take without working for it. They support a war for oil because its much better than paying full price. They don't mind exploiting the world because being the dominant member of the world, they deserve priviledge.
Since these people can acquire so many resources due to their faults, their lifestyle becomes so appealing to those that suffer desire. Media has also portrayed their lavish lifestyle as the pinnacle of success. The mogols and debutantes are seen riding in stretch SUV's, flying to far away places on a whim, lacking conservation in every facet of their lives. How could we not know why so many people strive, fight, backstab and kill to reach such decadence? They do it to resemble these heroes of our culture. The culture of filth.
Sure the filth isn't readily on display. There are people paid to rush it away out of sight; under the rug or down the sink. The rate of waste removal is increasing, and more and more trash collectors are needed to produce products for the affluent to abuse and then cart it away when they dispose of it.
The affluent consider the cup half full to be empty. Even the full cup is not enough. Overflow is the only acceptable state. The problem is that the world can never handle such waste. And now that the destitute try to emulate the decadent, they destine themselves and their lifestyle for destruction.
As much as I wish that only America was so gluttonous, I know that this country is not alone. This has become a world wide pandemic and it is far from new. In the past, during the time of feudalism, lords were given rights over their serfs. The social order forbade class movement. But with progress the serfs were emancipated and it became appealing to climb the social ladder. This was considered a bright moment for humanity but the world is paying the price.
Now so many of those originating from the lower rungs of society (often for good reason) have climbed to positions of influence and power. Their numbers in this class has increased. They were able to rise to this level because they realized how the existing members of high society came to be... They desired and felt no attachment. No attachment to God, to their fellow man, to family, to honor, to even themselves or the ones they love. With nothing to hold them back they found themselves free to do whatever they chose.
These characteristics were already inherent of the trash of the world. They have no attachment and have little holding them back from being whatever they want. So the number of them to rise to the hieghts of society has grown. So much so that even those decendents of the originally affluent have come to behave similarly from the influence of their majority.
There is no balancing force. Before reason could be used to convince people of what is good for the world. But, abiding by the maxim that what the populace holds true is truth, reason is a fault. One must appear dumb, must resemble the affluent idiots, must waste and exploit in order to be considered worthy of attention. Who would Jesus be today? A fucking joke. But the real joke is that those that would think him as a joke are those that proclaim to work on his behalf.
With such a futile situation I find it hard to continue..........
